The consultation process can vary and we ask questions to see what the client would like to achieve. We usually start with a meeting onsite or looking over plans to see what is important to the client, what expectations are set for the sign and how we can help. It is helpful if the customer has an idea of what type signs they like, but not necessary. Once it is determined we can help, we will do the adequate code research and design work required to come up with an estimate. We will normally meet again to go over pricing and artwork. Clients will normally have feedback that requires additional revisions. At this point, the customer will offer a commitment if they like the progress and we will continue to refine the design. The next step may require picking specific colors if they have not been determined. When the customer is ready to proceed, we have the client sign the cost proposal and artwork so we can submit to a landlord, if applicable, then to the city. Once the permits and approvals are in hand we put the project into production.

The sign-making process can be more complex and time-consuming than expected due to the creative nature of signs, approvals and permit process involved. So it is best to start this process as early in the development of your concept as possible or even before signing a lease to make sure your sign will not become a point of contention.
